October 2025

Greetings, All:

I don’t know where you sit with “faith”. I was raised in a Presbyterian church and identify as a Christian, but judgment of others is not my thing. Neither am I compelled to “convert” anyone to believe as I do. If you are a “person of faith”, I believe it’s a personal choice between you and the object of your faith.

There are Christians who would disagree with me, but not one James Talarico, currently running for the US Senate from Texas. His 2-hour and 36-minute interview on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast 3 months ago is a “must hear” (I came across it on YouTube just this week), and he’s gotten a lot of mileage from it, appearing on many other programs and social media platforms since. His comments underscored much of what I believe and have tried to adhere to for most of my life.

Loving God isn’t just about belief or worship—it’s about how we live among others. The measure of our love for God shows itself in our willingness to see His reflection in the people around us. When we extend kindness, patience, and compassion to those we encounter, even when it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable, we honor the same divine presence that we claim to love. Love for God isn’t confined to prayer or ritual; it takes form in action—feeding the hungry, forgiving those who’ve wronged us, listening without judgment, and treating others with dignity.

To love your neighbor is to step into God’s way of seeing the world—with empathy, humility, and generosity. Every person we meet becomes a chance to put love into practice. When we care for our neighbor, we close the gap between heaven and earth, translating faith into something visible and real. Loving God, then, isn’t something we only feel; it’s something we do—moment by moment, in the way we choose to show up for one another.

And by “one another”, I mean those who claim as their religion or belief system Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, Taoism, and yes, atheism and agnosticism.

Mr. Talarico spouted the same, and it was so refreshing to hear, I broke my own rule about never mixing in religion or mention of politics in my real estate newsletter intros.

I mean, just how do you make a career out of serving and servicing people from all walks of life unless you have the proper attitude?

Just some thoughts I wanted to share.

Till next month,

Derek, Emily, Natalie, Mo & Arwin

Market Report

by Patrick Carlisle, Market Analyst for Compass Bay Area

October 2025

As of early October, 30-year mortgage rates, at about 6.3%, were essentially unchanged from early September (but well down from 7% in early 2025): The Fed’s first 2025 reduction of its benchmark rate, of .25%, had little effect, though consensus opinion is that further cuts are probably coming before the end of the year. Inflation continued to tick up slightly, while the stock market hit new all-time highs.

The property, situated along the Upper Pajaro River on the border of Santa Clara and San Benito counties, was formerly a privately owned farm along with two ranches used for livestock grazing and vegetable crops.

It started in 2009 with a dozen budding entrepreneurs, but in the years that followed, the San Francisco Street Food Festival grew exponentially, one year drawing 100,000 people to Pier 70 for everything from tacos to momos to falafel.
