Greetings, All:
This month, I have a HUGE announcement to make…Are you sitting down?
After 17 incredible years of partnership, dedication, and shared success, Natalie moves ever closer to the Big “R”. Not quite ready to hang up her license, she’ll remain a part of our new team in a capacity that works for her and her recently retired husband John. I envision more and more travels to lands near and far for them. In between, maybe I can snag her for an open house or two? Suffice it to say, Natalie’s been instrumental in shaping our business and fostering a culture of excellence. Have I ever mentioned that real estate teams normally don’t have a long shelf life?
It probably helped that we became fast friends. Before the world went mobile, I often spent more weekday hours with my “office wife” than my “home wife”. While very different people with vastly different backgrounds, we are so complementary in many respects. And it worked with our many clients who mirrored us in diversity. Boy did it work.
For the better part of 14 years, it was just we two; joining forces at Paragon Real Estate Group in 2007 then becoming founding agents at Compass, San Francisco in 2016. Along the way, we picked up our invaluable assistant Arwin, team member Mo Salimi in 2021, and Chrissie Emmons in 2024. I’m deeply grateful for the countless contributions Natalie’s made, and while my Friend for Life may be stepping away from her co-leadership role, her impact will always be a part of our foundation.
What to do? After an extensive search, the answer was right around my corner office. I’m so excited to welcome Emily Dunn as my Business Partner and Team Co-Leader. Like me, Emily is a San Francisco native. In fact, she’s a fifth generation San Franciscan, who’s built an impressive career as a Realtor® over the last 21 years. Emily attended Saint Ignatius College Preparatory before graduating from Santa Clara University. She’s had quite an eventful life, which has also included interning for Senator Dianne Feinstein in Washington D.C.. I knew of Emily when she worked at TRI/Coldwell Banker, and in 2016, was thrilled to be working alongside her at the newly formed Compass, San Francisco. If there’s a more positive person with the winningest smile, I haven’t met them. Emily is also the proud and energetic mother of two sons, and she’s going to enjoy the worry-free support she gets from our team while she attends her boys’ many sporting events.
I don’t know if I can commit to 17 more years, Emily, but I guarantee we’re going to enjoy much success and fun, together. Here’s to the past, present, and future!
Till next month,
The Dunn & Chin Group: Derek, Emily, Natalie, Mo, Chrissie & Arwin

by Patrick Carlisle, Market Analyst for Compass Bay Area
March 2025
Market activity and demand – as defined by listings going into contract, speed of sale, and overbidding of list price – rose in February. Unlike other Bay area markets, San Francisco has not seen a substantial increase in the number of homes for sale: The inventory of listings has remained relatively stable on a year-over-year basis for the past 4 years. As has been the case since the pandemic, the house market continues to be more heated than the condo market, though luxury condo/co-op sales jumped dramatically in the first 2 months of 2025.

* As tax season approaches, beware of red flag items in your tax returns as it relates to tax deductions. Keep receipts. We have (finally) entered an era where there is an acute focus on the national debt and deficits…..spending cuts have started already with a focus on fraud, waste and abuse, yet the big elephant in the room is the $400 – 700 billion in (owed) uncollected taxes EVERY SINGLE YEAR. At one point, this could trigger more audits.
* Is the “knowledge economy on the way out” as A.I. disrupts the global workforce? Aneesh Raman, chief economic opportunity officer at LinkedIn, thinks we’re entering the “innovation economy” where human skills such as creativity, curiosity, courage, compassion and communication will be key. (CNBC)

Two years in the planning, one week on the market, and two weeks to close. The Watsons got the absolute most out of their Telegraph Landing view apartment, and are now enjoying a different view and experience entirely. We wish them all the very best, and are exceedingly grateful for their trust and collaboration.
