Greetings All,
Relationships.
The business of selling depends on them. Not only with clients and customers of course, but suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, contractors, sales personnel, the list goes on.
In real estate, we have relationships built with lenders, escrow workers, inspectors, sales reps, stagers, locksmiths and other vendors. We also rely on our office managers, support staff, marketing team, IT personnel, and fellow agents. In a competitive housing market as we have in the San Francisco Bay Area, every once in a while a good reputation and relationship will give you that little push to come out on top.
I’m fond of saying, “You think your career is about what you do, but it’s mostly about who you do it with. Teamwork makes the dream work”.
Over the past couple of weeks, as our City and businesses have opened up, I’ve taken advantage by attending our office re-opening with its full staff, had a fabulous visit with friends over the July 4th weekend whom I haven’t seen in over a year and a half, and patronized restaurants and stores I haven’t stepped foot in (other than the occasional takeout order) for months. I even went to my first movie at the Kabuki Theater! Does it matter that it was more forgettable than the popcorn? Not a bit.
I feel compelled to hug everyone, including strangers. I guess if you’re in a people business, it helps if you like people, lol.
In celebration of great relationships, to the people we’ll remember longer than anything we could physically possess, I’m spending this month’s Intro space expressing gratitude for some of my relationships, old and new.
First, I’m grateful for my wife Monica and son Marco, who came into my life a mere 7 years ago. Together with our two cats and brand new 10-year old dog, we’ve established quite the family unit. When things open up in Europe as they have here, we’ll look forward to visiting extended family and friends. I’m particularly thankful for Monica’s understanding and support of my long hours at work. It’s difficult to shut down completely, unless I’m out of the country, in which case…
I’ve got Natalie to cover. 13 years and going strong, I’m grateful for my business partner who helps make this job a manageable, fun one. I can commiserate and celebrate with my “office wife”, and it just wouldn’t be the same to do what I do without her. Natalie and husband John have just celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary.
A big thank you to Geneva Bumb Shanti, who joined us in 2016 as an assistant then associate, and has now joined another team as a full-time agent. Just as Geneva made the transition, we brought on team member Mo Salimi. I’ve known Mo for years, and when he recently got his sales license it didn’t take but a few conversations to have him join our team. On top of that, Virtual Professional Arwin Barrongo is a new hire, and he’s doing a smashing job of keeping this machine oiled and running smoothly.
To our clients, we treasure our friendships and working relationships with each of you. We do not exaggerate when we say it’s of utmost importance to us that you’re happy and living where you want to live. Helping you make a transition or find your place in the world is what our business is all about.
Till next month, be well, be safe and HAPPY RECONNECTING!
Till next month – Stay healthy, safe and sane.
Derek & Natalie, Mo and Arwin

Meet Steve and Vessela, clients we absolutely LOVED working with to find the very first home of their own. It was a tall order leaving a rent-controlled apartment that had a Golden Gate Bridge view, but we managed to find just the place! Wishing them many wonderful years, there.

The next energy wave is fast approaching. Modern life, as we know it, will soon be fueled by clean energy. For investors, there are interesting opportunities in this transition over the coming decade. Batteries and carbon capture technologies. Batteries will help charge the future. Expect to see more cars, buildings, and aircraft powered by renewable energy sources as costs of battery technology continue to drop and batteries fuel more facets of our lives. Carbon capture technologies extract CO2 emissions and store them underground or reuse them to create cleaner products. These notes from MORGAN STANLEY with $1.24 trillion under management…..
The Fed – under Jerome Powell’s leadership that started in 2018 – signaled they expect to raise interest rates twice by late 2023, sooner than they anticipated in March, as the economy recovers rapidly from the effects of the pandemic and inflation heats up. 18 more months of super-low interest rates? I’ll take that! Some expect rates to rise sooner with rising inflation, an indicator of massive economic activity. We should be reminded that rates are at record lows…..
The extraordinary recovery of the U.S. economy is set to make the country the world’s top destination for overseas investment this year and next, with foreign businesses drawn by the prospect of a rapid and sustained rebound in consumer spending.

As heat waves grow more severe in the Bay Area and the broader Pacific Northwest, these historically mild areas are ill-equipped to handle the onslaught of heat that is poised to come this summer — and likely future summers to come.

Create a virtual open house experience using standard video from our phone:

|
Facetime or Zoom conferencing in the property:
As above but on a live feed that is mutually scheduled with prospective buyers and their agents. Offers a personal experience and 1:1 questions are answered.

Home features will come to life inside this dynamic, digital brochure while creating an immersive experience for even the most discerning of buyers. Pages will turn and videos will play while allowing us to capture real-time data and actionable insights from potential buyers.

Mobile Listing Ads:
We’ll run geo-targeted mobile ad campaigns to reach buyers in the right place, at the right time. Now more than ever, buyers and sellers are spending most (if not all) of their time at home. We’ll create a geofence around the neighborhoods where you’d like your ads to be seen. These ads will appear in mobile apps and will re-target viewers on their desktops and laptops.
|
|
All of this is designed to bring proper exposure to our wonderful listings, and encourage eager buyers to make safe, virtual visits before making safe, in-person visits.
